We are delighted to welcome Dr Akunna Ozougwu, CAMHS Clinical Lead and Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, to the BetterCare team.
Dr Ozougwu brings extensive experience in child and adolescent mental health and works with children and young people up to the age of 18.
She supports young people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including:
- Anxiety and panic
- Low mood and depression
- Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder
- Obsessive behaviours
- Bipolar disorder
- Alcohol and drug-related difficulties
Dr Ozougwu offers in-person appointments in Drogheda for children aged 6 and older. Online appointments may also be suitable for older children and teenagers, generally from around age 10–12, depending on the individual presentation and clinical needs.
Dr Ozougwu’s postgraduate qualifications include a Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry, membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK), and a CSCST in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
We require a GP referral for all Child & Adolescent Psychiatry appointments.
During the initial consultation, Dr Ozougwu will take a detailed history. This includes current symptoms, family background, physical health, and any previous treatment or assessments. She will discuss any further investigations or treatment options that may be appropriate. She will then agree on a management plan with the family.
We’re very pleased to have Dr Ozougwu joining BetterCare and to be expanding our Child & Adolescent Psychiatry service for families looking for specialist support.
If you’d like to find out more about Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, contact our team, and we’ll talk you through the referral and booking process.
