Conor is an 8-year-old living in County Clare. Teachers noticed he became excessively worried about separation from his parents, avoided participating in class activities, and found it difficult to maintain attention during lessons. At home he had frequent temper outbursts and significant bedtime resistance.

Initial Assessment A child psychologist conducted a structured developmental and behavioural assessment including parent interview using appropriate measures of anxiety and attention. Differential considerations included separation anxiety disorder and ADHD symptoms.

It was collaboratively determined a focussed ADHD assessment was warranted.
